This year, I’m excited to be consistently second shooting with Simonne Bolla of Bolla Photography. We launched the 2014 wedding season back in April with Brian and Laura. Second shooting is challenging because I rarely get the ideal angle, and I have to work to get quality images while shooting off of someone else’s vision. When I second shoot, I don’t think of myself as an extra body who shows up, takes a few shots and runs away with a paycheck. I strive to give the photographer really good images that will add to the couple’s story. I’ve been hired to give a different perspective, and it’s not really worth anyone’s time if my perspective….ummmmm….STINKS. 😉
When the primary photographer sets up the shot, I don’t always ‘get it’ (see what they see), and my natural instinct is to think through how I would shoot it differently. But ain’t-nobody-got-time-for-that on a wedding day! It’s been great to be challenged creatively, and forced to think outside the box and outside my usual realm of shooting. I’m very happy with what I was able to capture on Brian and Laura’s wedding day, and wanted to share my favorites here with all of you!
Enjoy!
